Meet Edison. Terry, Nelson, David, and Stephen, worker co-op members of this incredible team! The team offers our community skills in masonry, sheet rocking, painting, flooring, odd jobs, and even electrical and plumbing work, as two of the members complete their licensing in these fields. We're so proud of this budding cooperative!

Now in their second year of development, having completed six months of introductory cooperative business classes - their business plan, operational manual and bylaws crafted - they are officially incorporated in Massachusetts as Handyman Group Services LLC. 

 

The cooperative will continue receiving Roots & Dreams development services this year, mapping out their marketing plan and firming up their back office skills. Furthermore, they are a firm partner in the rehabilitation of our community owned real-estate project, 117-133 Fenn St. working under our architect, to complete grant approved assignments through the Community Preservation Act Grant, Transformative Development Initiative Grant, and 1Berkshire Grant.  

 

They are instrumental in rehabbing the small inlet kitchen at 117 Fenn St. to be activated this summer as well as The People's Art Gallery at 131 Fenn St. and will support future rehabilitation, transforming the old bar into a large shared commercial kitchen and revitalizing King Kone, once grants are achieved for those! This type of practicum increases the team's portfolio while also increasing their access to capital, simultaneously providing immense benefit to our community at large.
